The Devil’s Advocate

The Devil’s advocate remains one of the masterpieces in the thriller/horror movies production. Hardly is there a movie that embodies so much of meaning, old believes, uncomparable fictious moments and flawless cast and director. Motives from the middle ages religious thoughts are related to modern day bussiness world, demonic faces from the belives of the old christian writings are presented in the 20th century modernised society. Relationships are described, love presents in the movie, good and evil meet, justice and injustice clash in this amazing production that influenced the whole genre and along with several similiar productions are my personal favourites of all times.
Directed by Taylor Hackford and starring Keanu Reaves and Al Pacino as main characters, the plot of the film tells the story of a young countryside lawyer who is famous for his ability to somehow turn the case and win for his client (clients that at this point live mostly small town lives in used campervans). While defending a child rapist, Kevin (starring Reeves) is noticed by a NY legal firm emplyee and after winning the case he is invited to join the firm and become a real high class lawyer. Even being warned by his mother, Kevin and his wife leave the countryside and move in a fancy new flat in NY arranged by them by the new employer -the firm’s owner Milton (Al Pacino). The story begins and as soon as they move in, Kevin’s wife starts having strange dreams and visions -demonic figures, events that haven’t happened but feel like real. On the other hand strange things start happening to Kevin aswell -he sees that the firm is involved in different illegal activities, demonic faces appear to him, his employer whom he trusts a lot turns out to be a strange and somehow evil man.
Eventually Kevin will understand the fearful and demonic about Milton, he will realise he is actually Milton’s son and that Milton is… the Devil himself that has always had plans for his son.
